About Kaleidos

Kaleidos is an independent educational guide to the art and craft of animation and anime. Each topic is presented in seven short sections: an overview, why it matters, how it works, how to apply it, common mistakes to avoid, tips for better results, and a set of frequently asked questions.

The goal is plain language. We write for anyone who loves animation — whether it is a first look at squash and stretch or a question about the production pipeline, formats, anime genres, or how to watch with an informed eye — and wants to understand the medium without the jargon.

The guide is organised into five blocks — Animation Principles, Production & Pipeline, Formats & Mediums, Anime Genres & Demographics, and Watching & Appreciating — so readers can browse by topic or jump straight to a guide.

Kaleidos is an educational guide to the medium, not a review site. We describe concepts, techniques, and genres by type rather than naming or recommending specific shows, studios, tools, or products, and we do not accept payment for listings. We do not review or recommend specific animated works, and we do not give financial advice or comment on production budgets. Content is provided for general information and education only.
